What They Are Saying About Finders Keepers, Losers Dead!

Having just read H. Susan Shaw's novel Finders Keepers, Losers Dead! I must report mixed feelings....my happiness was that it IS a series with more to come and my sadness that it was such a good read it ended way too soon! Having expressed that, I want to compliment the author on her ability to keep the tempo of interest at warp 5 while skillfully weaving so many of the issues of today into the story. I love her character, Kate, and Ms. Shaw has made her as real as a heart attack. Kate is not young, gorgeous, slick nor glossy. Ms. Tucker is human with a great sense of compassion and justice for the underdog; which she demonstrated by rescuing and nurturing Slyvia. I loved Kate's passion for clearing her name and reputation. We need more role models portraying people with strength, character and the determination to carry their convictions to a meaningful conclusion. I say “Go, Kate Tucker!” and to H. Susan Shaw...write on...I am anxious for the next installment.

In Finders Keepers, Losers Dead!, H. Susan Shaw has created a new and exciting protagonist, Katherine (Kate) Tucker. Kate isn’t your typical protagonist. She’s “of an age” and has a lifetime of experience and lessons learned to help her solve whatever she sets her mind to. She’s self-employed and she’ll search for anything she’s hired to find, including repossessions for the bank. In this case, Kate deals with an abused woman, deceit and major crimes, including murder. Don’t mess with Kate!

A page-turner, you won’t want to put this down until you find out what Kate has gotten herself into and how she’s going to get herself out of it.

Kate Tucker, the heroine of H. Susan Shaw’s debut novel, Finders Keepers, Losers Dead! is a true woman for the twenty-first century.  She is courageous, intelligent, witty, compassionate, loyal, and more than capable of taking care of herself and the bad guys when they cross her path. No hero needed, although were a romantic interest to appear, Kate wouldn’t say no to his company.

In addition to creating a character the reader comes to know well and admire, Ms. Shaw captures the sights and sounds and uniqueness of her setting, the state of Maine.

Finders Keepers, Losers Dead! is the first of the Finder’s series. Once you make the acquaintance of Kate Tucker, you’ll want to read all of Ms. Shaw’s books.

Review for Finders, Keepers, Losers Dead!

Moving on from a personal background marred by domestic violence and shadowed by an enemy from the past, Kate supports herself by working as a finder.  Her job entails reclaiming merchandise that the buyer has no intention of paying for and turning it over to the bank.  Her average assignment can be easy, complicated—or deadly.

Deadly sets the story in motion when Kate stops on a country road, thinking a dead animal lies in her path, only to find two bodies in a ditch.  From that moment to the harrowing climax, Kate’s story is one of fast action, danger, and twists with a few quiet scenes thrown in for contrast.
