Interview Anna Dynowski

1) Did your writing style develop automatically, or was it maneuvered?
When I first began to write, my style was in a raw form. The talent existed, as per the judges’ comments on the various contests I entered. Through my voracious reading and participation in many writers’ workshops, I have refined my style. But it’s been through my continued writing that I have been able to find my voice.
2) Which authors most influence you? Why?
There are many authors from whom I learn, but two stand out: Nora Roberts, because she has the skill to create characters who grab my heart, and Robin Lee Hatcher, because she is an overt Christian writer.
3) What influences guided you into your chosen genres?
I write Inspirational Romance and honestly, it was God Who placed the desire on my heart to write in this genre.
4) Do you plot your tales beginning to end or vice versa?
I’m the type of person who needs a road map showing me how to get from Point A (where I am) to Point B (where I want to go). So… yes, I plot my stories from beginning to end, but I allow my characters the freedom to take unscheduled side trips. They will anyway, so I might as well give them my blessing.
5) Do you always have a particular finish in mind?
Always, a happily-ever-after. My ending must be emotionally gratifying.
6) How do you ensure keeping every character true to type throughout?
I create a profile for each of my main characters. I give them a history, outlining their childhood, education, previous relationships, experiences-good and bad, their attitude toward money and the opposite sex, their wants and goals, their biggest secret. In the book, they will act and react in accordance with the above.
7) Do your stories touch the inner you?
Yes. With each story I’ve crafted, I have a fresh revelation of God and have learned a whole lot more about myself.
8) Do you have books published other than by Wings?
For Better, For Worse, Forever is my first book published by Wings ePress, Inc. I have two other books, Full Circle and Appointment With Destiny, both published with Write Words, Inc.
9) Are your books plot or character driven?
Character driven.
10) How much of your own personality do you lend to characters?
I’ve never thought about this before. I thought my characters were “made up,” but I guess some part of me, as their “creator,” is wrapped up in them. Certainly my belief system is, not just in God, but also in love never fails.
11) Do you regulate your writing time?
Since I have a full-time day job, the only time I have for my writing is evenings and weekends (after I’ve given hubby and kitty their time).
