Interview Josephine Templeton

1. What other authors might have inspired you when writing Forever Yours?

I would have to say (at the time) Anne Rice, but mostly Josh Whedon, the creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

2. How did you celebrate when your book was accepted?

 By going out to dinner.

3. How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing since I was five but became serious after my ten year high school reunion. Those tend to wake us up, don’t they?

4. Do you have a work in progress and, if so, is it the same genre?

I do have a work in progress, and it is a paranormal--about a fallen angel.

5. How long did it take you to write Forever Yours?

Forever Yours is actually the first book I wrote and took me five years to finish. During that time, I re-wrote and submitted, and when I got rejected, I re-wrote and submitted some more. It took me about ten years to get Forever Yours accepted by a publisher.

6. Do you work from an outline or are you a seat-of-the pants writer?

I used to be a panster but I’ve changed to a plotter (outliner). I have a full time job as an Administrative Assistant, and I figured that in order to get these books that are brewing in my head written, I stood a better chance of getting them out quicker by plotting the whole story first. It has helped immensely!

7. How many hours a day do you write?

It’s hard to say, as I write in the car at red lights, at lunch and just before bedtime. If I had to take a guess, I’d say about one to two hours, if possible. My bill-paying job won’t allow for more.

8. What future goals have you set for yourself as a writer?

To get more books written and published.

9. What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Keep banging on the door. Eventually, someone will let you in.

9. What other pursuits do you enjoy, besides writing?

I read, of course, play the piano, spend time with my family and fish in the lake behind my house.

10. Have you written other books and, if so, where can we buy them?

My first published book, Convicted of Love, was the second book I wrote and, if interested in this historical romance, please visit my website at http://josephinetempleton.tripod.com

11. Tell us what it is about paranormals that intrigues you. Is that the exclusive sub genre that you work with?

I have always had a fascination with the supernatural and am a firm believer in Jesus and the afterlife.

12. Who would you say has inspired you the most? Family? Other writers?

Movies, television and books are the biggest inspiration to me. My family is my biggest support system. They rock!

13. Do you base any of your characters on people you know? That is a big issue with me, and I often find myself defending a character, and insisting it has no resemblance to real people.

I don’t base my characters on people I know, simply for the reason all my characters have come to me to tell their stories. Their creation (development) simply spills out of my head like wine out of a broken bottle.

Well it has been a pleasure talking with you Josephine. I hope the Wings readers enjoy your work, and we see much more of you in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to conduct this interview. Later!
